The Macoupin County Public Health Department released its updated COVID-19 data relating to testing and cases as of Monday, June 8 noting less than 2 percent of tests in the county resulted in a positive COVID-19 case.
Countywide, there have been 3 deaths, 47 positive cases, 3 currently active cases, and another 3 tests were pending on Monday. A total of 3,013 tests have been administered resulting in 1.56% tests returning as a positive COVID-19 test. Two positive cases had to be hospitalized, the health department said.
The active Macoupin County cases include a female in her 60s and two males in their 60s. The COVID-19 deaths in the county were a male in his 80s, a male in his 60s, and a female in her 40s.
Statewide, the number of new cases have been below 1,000 the last five days. Public health officials announced on Wednesday the number of new cases was 625, down from 797 on Tuesday. As of Wednesday, the state is reporting a total of 129,837 cases, including 6,095 deaths, in 101 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years.
The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from June 3–June 9 is 4%.
