The Macoupin County Health Department announced on Monday that dental services have already been restored to full capacity at the Maple Street Clinic in Gillespie and will resume at the Morgan Street Clinic in Carlinville on June 15.
“The health department recognizes that primary dental and medical care are very important,” the health department added. “Through routine medical check-ups, potentially serious problems are detected. Primary Care Providers are often the first to see depression, the early signs of cancer or chronic disease. Catching and treating problems early, which happens during annual check-ups, can increase the chances for treatment and cure as well as help to limit the risk of having complications by closely monitoring existing conditions.”
The Macoupin County Public Health Department is working to restore all primary care services.
Macoupin County residents can call either the Maple Street Clinic at 217-839-1526 or the Morgan Street Clinic at 217-854-3692 to make appointments for routine care including dental procedures, annual physical exams, chronic disease care (diabetes, cholesterol, high blood pressure), well-child and immunizations.
Telehealth services will be used for designated medical and counseling appointments helping to reduce the spread of illness. For appointments that cannot be completed via telehealth, patients will be screened by phone prior to their appointment. Patients are asked to wait for their appointments in their cars rather than in the waiting rooms. They are being notified by cell phone when their treatment room is ready.
All staff and patients are required to have their temperature taken upon entering any of the Public Health facilities. In addition, the public is reminded that at the Maple Street Clinic location, sick visits are being conducted car-side with full personal protective equipment to reduce infection risk inside the building.
