Gillespie High School and Gillespie Middle School are moving to full remote learning temporarily, according to an Alert Now message broadcasted by Superintendent Shane Owsley on Wednesday evening. All middle and high school extra-curricular activities are also temporarily suspended.
The district plans to resume the blended learning plan and extra-curricular activities on Thursday, November 5. BenGil Elementary students will continue with in-person learning during the middle school and high school closure.
The message cited another positive COVID-19 case at Gillespie Middle School and substitute teacher availability as the reasons to implement the move to the remote learning plan.

“GMS and GHS students and staff will continue to follow the same instructional schedules as they are currently following during Blended Learning,” Owsley announced. “This means that students should be online and attending classes at 7:45 a.m.”
SMASE classes that attend Gillespie Middle School and High School will also attend classes remotely from Thursday, October 29 until returning to blended learning on Thursday, November 5.
Meals for GMS and GHS students will be delivered during the remote days with buses beginning their meal delivery routes at 1 p.m. and arriving at normal bus stops at normal times. For students who do not ride the bus, meals can be picked up behind the cafeteria at 12:30 p.m.
CUSD 7 started the school year as full remote and advanced into their blended learning plan on October 5.
